my story and why I'm here

i?ve been a lurker for awhile and a member for a little while, and i?d like to tell you about myself and why i?m here.

i was looking for information, comfort and explanations for what happened in my life and i?ve found all that and more here---thank you all so much for your contributions, words of wisdom and humor.

3 years ago, almost 4, i was a divorced mother of 3 just getting my life together after having been married to a raging alcoholic for over 13 years.

I'm saddened by this seemingly trajic "trend" that seems to be popping up with the witnesses. I too know of someone who has an ex and is seeing someone "worldly" on the side. No one else knows. Like a dirty little secret you said. And what have you done wrong but fall for him, which in itself is not wrong, but what is wrong is the way that you have been strung along. If there have been intimacies between you, and he has been lying about you all along, he is also not telling anyone about that either. He must now keep clean!!

I feel for you, because you are the one that is paying for this fraud. The heart can be a hard thing to protect, and just when you thought it was safe to go into the water again a shark appears. I know this is not what you want to hear, but beleive me and everyone on this board, you are so much better off without the lies and secrets. You obviously deserve better. Take care and let that wound heal. And if he comes around again to cop a feel, ask him if he is going to confess to the elders later!! ha ha he'll probably poop his drawers. Smiles for you.

we all know that we do not know the correct pronunciation of the name of god.

over 6000 times, the tetragrammaton is mentioned in the ot.

yet for some reason, most bibles do not use the name jehovah or yahweh but a few times.

Ummmmmmmm, when we pray, isn't it supposed to be "Our Father". So if we look at it in those terms, who here calls their father by his first name?

well i guess i should give you my story as of now.

i have been a jw now for about 6 years and have been the model witness.

about a year ago i started reading my bible and writing down verses that i didn?t understand.

I can't believe no one has commented on this yet. Usually they jump like flies to .....well you know. Welcome to the board!!

First of all, been there done that. All I can say is keep reading your bible if that is where you are getting the confusion from. Or if you really want your eyes opened, keep asking those questions and don't stop asking those questions until you get a satisfactory answer. It'll probably go something like this. "Wait on Jehovah", then Voila new light!! Or, you'll be counselled for going ahead or some other trumped up charge of garbage.

I was a witness for 14 years. Not anymore, and I don't want to freak you out because you are already freaked out probably but look up the word apostate in the dictionary. the real dictionary, not the insight book. Probably different than what you were told or ever thought.

I don't know what to tell you, open your eyes and take a good look around you. If there is anything that doesn't seem quite right to you. DON'T LET IT GO UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY SATISFIED.

ASK YOURSELF. WHY CAN'T I GO ON THE INTERNET? IF THIS IS THE TRUTH, NOTHING CAN CHANGE THAT THIS IS THE TRUTH. THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH. IF THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH, NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT, BUT DON'T YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO DO A BIT OF LOOKING. MY GUESS IS YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T DO TOO MUCH RESEARCH BEFORE YOU TOOK THE PLUNGE. i was with my ex for 4 years.

we broke up four months ago.

You already missed your chance to come clean. If you tell him now it'll probably come across as:

"Oh yeah, well guess what?! I screwed a guy when we were together, so there!! What do you think of that?"

Do you really want to come across like that? You know what you did, right. You feel bad right. Why hurt him, and make yourself look even worse than what you feel?

Spirtual Paradise?

the witnesses say they are living today in a 'spiritual paradise".

is'nt paradise supposed to be something really good, ecstatic, perfect?

which makes me think......if this is what they consider to be a "paradise" of any kind, what will the earthly paradise be like acording to the jw's?, and who would want to live in a "paradise" where only jw's are the ones there?

Hi, my introduction.....finally.

i have been reading posts for a while, but everytime i try and post my intro, i dont know what to say, so i suppose i will just write what comes to me.

lets see, i was born and raised in the "truth", i have never known anything else my whole life, so this is weird for me to think differently.

i was df'd about 4 years ago when i met my "worldly" husband, i have tried for the past 2 years to be reinstated, but i guess that i have not tried hard enough, according to the elders (who btw have not been very nice or loving toward me).

Wow that sounds lame. But if you are like I was, you tried and tried to be accepted back after your "fall" and there was just no letting you forget that you are an outcast. So you finally give up and boom, its like a switch goes on in your brain. And it is actually like a lightbulb. Once that light is on, you will go out of your way to show yourself that you are the good person and they are not who they claim. And the light gets brighter and brighter. ha ha I love telling people that. Anyway not to get carried away, as I sometimes do, I just want to say Welcome here, keep reading cuz all these people are fantastic and loving. Best wishes to your whole family.
